Oggi è il giorno 0. Da qui al giorno 1 potranno passare molti giorni 0 anche se spero che dal 1 gennaio 2012 possa iniziare definitivamente questo nuovo progetto che durerà 100 giorni.
Today is Day 0. There may be a series of Day 0s between now and Day 1 as I get things set up for this new project for 2012 which I hope will start on 1 January 2012 and last for 100 days.
Ho questa idea da un po', ispirato da un altro blog: 52 Cups scritto da Megan Gebhart che ha incontrato 52 persone nuove in 52 settimane. Questo progetto è un po 'più ambizioso e quindi più delicato da portare a termine, ma sono responsabile solo per me stesso quindi ho la possibilità di inseguire o cambiare i miei obiettivi con fluidità.
I have had this idea for a while, inspired by another blog: 52 Cups written by Megan Gebhart who set out to meet 52 new people in 52 weeks. This project is slightly more ambitious and more prone to failure points, but I am not answerable to anyone other than myself so I can be flexibile in my aims.
Nel corso dei primi 100 giorni del 2012 (o forse i primi 120) mi propongo di fare colazione con 100 persone diverse in 100 bar diversi a Roma, la mia nuova città di residenza. Sono sicuro (anche se non ho fatto un conto preciso) di avere più di 100 amici e conoscenze a Roma, quindi dovrebbe essere facile, no? Beh, sarebbe facile se questa fosse l'idea ... ma non è così. Invece, l'intenzione è di incontrarsi e discutere idee e pensieri con persone che non conosco e forse non avrei mai incontrato se non fosse stato per questo progetto.
Over the first 100 days of 2012 (or perhaps even up to 120 days if necessary, or beyond) I aim to have breakfast with 100 different people in 100 different locations across Rome, my new city of residence. I am sure (although I haven't counted them) that I already have more than 100 friends and acquantainces in Rome, so that should be easy, right? Well, it would be if that was the idea... it's not. The idea is to meet NEW people and discuss ideas and thoughts with people who I don't know and perhaps wouldn't have met if it wasn't for this project.
Il mio punto di partenza, però, è più familiare. Non posso scegliere persone a caso dall' elenco telefonico, chiamarle e chiedere loro se ci possiamo incontrare per fare colazione (beh, potrei, ma non lo farò). Ho scelto 10 persone che ho incontrato anche solo una volta qui a Roma come i miei "primi 10" e da qui tutto proseguirà sponteneaente, spero.
My starting point, however, is more familiar. I can't just pick some names out of a telephone directory, phone them and ask them to meet me for breakfast (well, I could, but I don't intend to). I have chosen 10 people who I have met only once here in Rome as my "starter for 10" and the rest will flow from there, I hope.
Ho spedito o spedirò nei prossimi giorni un email alle 10 persone - e spero che saranno d'accordo. Vorrei incontrarle nei primi 10 giorni di gennaio per la prima colazione. Poi, ognuno si impegnerà a trovarmi qualcuno nuovo che volesse fare la prima colazione con me a gennaio e così il progetto va avanti. Ci incontreremo, prenderemo un caffè, parleremo, e scatterò una foto. Più tardi, nello stesso giorno (dato che avrò del tempo), scriverò qualcosa per questo blog su quella persona e pubblicherò il post e foto insieme.
The 10 people concerned have been or will be mailed today - hopefully they will agree. I plan to meet them in the first 10 days of January for breakfast. Each of them will commit to finding me someone new to have breakfast with later in January and so on. We'll meet, have coffee, talk, and I'll take a photo. Later that same day (time permitting on any given day), I'll write up something for this blog about that person and pubish it along with a photo.
Che cosa vorrei da questo progetto? Vorrei sapere di più su Roma e i suoi abitanti, e magari scoprire qualcosa su di me stesso e perché ho sentito obbligato il bisogno di venire a vivere in questa città. Spero che possa essere un viaggio interessante ricco di incontri interessanti e di opportunità. Spero che qualcuno di voi venga con me in questo viaggio ... [Grazie ad Ilaria per l'aiuto stasera!]
What I hope to do is learn more about what makes Rome and it's
inhabitants tick, but also something about myself and why I felt
compelled to come here in the first place. I'm hoping that it will be an
interesting journey full of interesting meetings and opportunities. I
hope that some people will come along for the ride too...
